This is normally
the time of the year that we have all the post-mortems about what went
wrong, who was to blame, all the ifs and buts. This year should be different
because of the finale to the best season most of us can remember, a season
with no trophies but so many good memories to cherish.
The trip to Seville for the Final was fantastic, the atmosphere created
by the fans will live with us, the way the team fought back made us so
proud, until 5 minutes from the end disaster struck, but then these things
happen in football and we know that. The Celtic supporters walked away
with their heads held high and our Team did the same. I think it`s because
we feel that we reached a different level this year and we know it`s where
we belong and that it won`t be as long again until we are in a European
Final.
Our trip to Seville started on Tuesday evening when we headed to Belfast
and ended on Thursday evening when we arrived back in Sharkeys , 49 hours
later, it was supposed to be a day trip. There were delays, but that was
expected when you think of the amount of bhoys and ghirls that were on
the way out that day, it was amazing that we all got out and back and
we didn`t hear of any major incidents, except Josie got lost and didn`t
get his ticket until about 6 o`clock and was lost again by 6.30 when we
were heading to the stadium. The mobile network in Spain had to carry
some traffic that day and if some of the messages left on my voicemail
was anything to go by, it certainly learned a new language(BLUE) thanks
to Josie and Frank. I told Josie I would meet him at the Cathedral and
I was wearing the new Hoops top, how he couldn`t find me I`ll never understand
(ha-ha). Honestly though nearly every supporter had on the Hoops, it was
just a sea of Green and White, MAGIC.
I don't know how true the story is but Michael Sharkey is telling everyone
that Josie actually gave up looking for us, and was going to watch the
match on the big screen before his saviour arrived, Colin Gallagher. We
met all the Lhads and had a couple of beers in Flahertys when the panic
was over, myself and Daniel walked around the Cathedral until we were
dizzy and had to take a gallon of water on board before we could enjoy
a beer. It was too short a trip , it would have been nice to spend that
night after the game in Seville. Some of the Lhads that did stay got good
cheap digs, isn`t that right Josie? The only thing that Josie was disappointed
about was when Noel Gallagher told him he couldn`t get a ticket. Josie
told him he should have give him a call, then walked away and left him
to wonder who the hell was that, must be Noel`s agents wern`t doing their
job right. I hope everyone connected to the club who travelled to Seville
had as good a trip as I did and I also hope everyone who took photos
try and get them to the club so we can put them on
the website in a special Seville Gallery.
Hail, Hail.
Jimmy
